Leeds to Skipton

Now then!  This ride here is for someone that has the whole day to them selves.  Or they has this cyclist friend who says " you'll be just fine." But be careful.. if this is the one you have decided to tackle just after you cleaned off the cob webs from your face while pulling the bike out of your shed then maybe you want to pick something easier. Not here to discourage.. just make sure you have someone that will come pick you up, just in case. When I did it the first time then my idea was to do 100km or 60 miles in local currency..  I did it 2-3 years ago. I still had my silver bike. Which was one of the best second hand bikes I bought.  Side note .  If you don't want to spend a lot of money on a bike that you aren't really sure you will even ride that much but want to give it a go then try "The Bikes college" here in Leeds.  Not an advertisement but they do have cheap refurbished bikes for sale there. It's not new but is professionally ...

Otley chevin forest park.

What one does on +28 degree Sunday afternoon?  Any sane person would be looking in the freezer for some ice to add in their drink. Or just chilling in shadow.  I on the other hand decided to grab big bottle of water. Few bananas and my sunglasses. Jumped on my bike and headed towards where wind blows from. It's a thing that I learned not too long ago.   The idea is to pick your route that faces the wind. So when you'll be coming back then the wind will help you get home easier.  This time I had to go towards Leeds Bradford airport. Not my first choice but what can I do .. I have an itch and I have to ride and let the mother nature dictate the way.  Ride starts pretty simple. I live in Bramley so that's where I set of from .. headed towards canal path and then rode it up to Kirkstall forge.  They have recently built a train station there so all the paths and stuff is pretty new. From the Kirkstall forge I joined the Abbey road all the way to Rawd...

Why I like cycling.

I thought to talk about the motivation of cycling.  This Tuesday I returned back to work from short holiday I took to complete the *c2c* or also known as coast to coast cycling route. It takes you from West coast to east coast of United Kingdom.  I'll talk about that experience at some other time.  So when I returned back to work few of the guys I work with were very surprised about my endeavour and few were puzzled since they couldn't see the reason for doing 140 miles without money prize at the end or even just a handshake from a stranger to acknowledge this achievement.  It's difficult to explain to a person with slightly different set of values that this trip was more valuable than money or internet likes.  This was just one of them milestones I had to do to prove my self of what I am capable of.  It gives exactly the same feeling when I took off my training wheels I rode all by my self at age 7. I remember my self trying all day long until it happened ...

Bramley to Shipley.

Bramley to Shipley. If you dont want to read it then click here  https://castbox.fm/episode/id4415039-id404275628?utm_source=podcaster&utm_medium=dlink&utm_campaign=e_404275628&utm_content=Bramley%20Shipley-CastBox_FM I did this route for the first time many years ago when I couldn't afford running maps on my phone the whole way. Because back in the day data actually was crazy expensive. So I just kept cycling until I had enough. Without knowing that I'll end up in Shipley.  So here we are. I started it in Bramley and ended in the park next to Salt Mills. Most of the route is either asphalt or smooth gravel ..but there is also a bit of muddy bits if it has been raining.  This would be the one ride that I would have a spare inner tube with me and a pump.  From Dobson locks to Almost all the way to Shipley you must be cautious. The path has tree roots and pointy rocks sticking out on the edges. Just don't gun it trough. Otherwise you'll get a pu...

First ride.

Hello and welcome to my attempt at blogging.  I'll try my best tell you about the routes I have taken.  There is plenty to see out there and enjoy. I have been taking videos of some routes which I'll include here somehow plus I will also do short podcasts about each of them.  At the beginning it will be a bit messy because I don't know how it will all work but I am hoping to include route maps as well so you don't get lost or something.  Let's start with the basics.  Do you have a bike? Helmet? And a bell?  If the answer is yes to all 3 questions then you basically are set.  I know that a lot of people are discouraged by full on lycra shorts and insanely expensive bikes .. and don't forget the mirror sunglasses.  You don't need any of it if you want to just get the hell out of your house and have a good time by your self or with your special other or even your mates.  Bramley to Skeleton Grange. And there is also the l...
